Then its flat for about a mile and then you come to street called "Little Mountain." I'm not making this up:

Hills are not my friend, but I'm determined to make them at least like me or visa versa. Like I said, I wanted to stop so I could take pictures for you guys to see...not that I was tired or anything [weeez]:

(Doesn't it look NUTZ)

(At least I made it this far without getting off)
Ok, ok, stop twisting my arm. You see where those two cars are, at the bottom of the steeper grade, I made it about half way up that grade and had to get off and walk. Where the road starts to bend to right, about half way up that I got back on and muscled my way up and over.
I was so tire and glad to be "cruising" down the other side that I forgot to take a picture of the descent. And by cruising I mean hanging on for dear life as I hear a loud BOOOM when I broke the Sound Barrier.
All that the number didn't come out as bad as I thought. Keep in mind that this is my FIRST hills test, I'm a Clydesdale, Gravity, and this is only a 5.79 mile training loop. I did it in 31.09 minutes. That's an average of 11.15 MPH!!! Okay that's not Lance fast but damn it, for me that's SWEEEET!

There ya go! Sweeet! A name for your bike! "Hillcrusher" :-) from the Bike Whisperer!
Yeah baby! You have to appreciate those victories. They keep you going. It's coming up on my triathlon anniversary next week. I took a rediculous amount of time to finish my first tri swim - and all the courage Ii could muster to enter the water. I did it. Here I am a year later and everything is easier. Check out my post Monday!
TriVortex..
that looks like a nice hill to work your legs on.
Where i use to bike..early last season I had to get up and walk it too. By the end of the season, i am strong enough to ride it up....
Hills are definitely our best friend :)
way to attack those hills. those will make you stronger and faster!
I don't get it... where are all the cars?! Shouldn't there be about 3000 vehicles bumper-to-bumper in those photos? Or maybe I've just been living in L.A. too long.
Little Mountain, Big Victory!
Thanks for stopping by.
These picures look daunting. As if the road never ends, and it's too hot, and too tough. No wonder it feels sweet you have done it.
I will check out the link you gave me.
the hills are your friends... they (and you) just don't know it yet. Good on ya for getting out there and getting a baseline... now just repeat!
