Uneventful, but I knew it would be. Started with a 5 min walk, then did 2 miles in 30:25 (~15:13 min/miles). Then it was a quick dip in the pool for 1000 yrds in 22 min (~2:12 per 100 yrds). The run wasn't a bad time but I didn't feel that I could have gone for that extra mile. The swim started bad. Couldn't get into a rhythm until 600 yrds into it. Then it started to feel good. But as I was getting into the groove, two young'ins (whipersnapers) jumped into the lanes. One in my lane and another in the next lane over. Not that I'm a lane hog or anything (and god forbid if I'm as bad as "flipper") but they were friends, so why didn't they share the empty lane? I finished up my swim and offered some free advise to one of them. "Hey try to keep your left arm from coming up so high out of the water, it'll save you some energy." This is the response I get "What the F#($@ do you know about it!" If there is one thing that I can appreciate is when someone is trying to help me out. If there are any coaches that want to coach me for free...by all means, bring it on. Kids...can't swim with'em...can't kill'em. Why am I saying that? Mrs. TriVortex and I are only going to be 27 in a couple of weeks. We have the same birthday. And before you ask...Yes, Month, Day, & Year! When we met, it was so weird that I made her show me ID. Anywho, I'm starting to feel old. I'm the old guy in class that's not going back to school. I never left, just a few classes here, a few classes there. Geez, its really turning into, not quite a 10 year plan, but pretty darn close. I'm getting off topic, I shrugged my shoulders, turned by back, and walked away. I could hear them call me a P#$$@ (a woman's Poom Poom). I ignored it and went to the lockers and left. Hey I don't need to go to jail for ripping apart a minor do I?
PS. I still need a name for my bike. See the previous post.

I hope one of them promptly got a leg cramp after they acted like jerks. And next time they get in the same lane as you, accidently kick them in face.
Anyways, what day is your birthdays?
I wouldn't sweat it Tri-V. That's a lesson I learned a long time ago trying to help a stranger play pool better. No matter how well meaning, unsolicited advice just ain't appreciated. It takes less energy to just not do it. Too freakin bad.
Naming a bike is such a personal thing, bro. Why don't you ride her a few times and listen carefully to what is whispering in your mind. I think you'll find she already has a name. You just got to figure out what it is.
and if that doesn't work, how about "Aluna". She is a native South American Goddess of the Sun and Sky.
I'm not into the bike naming thing, so no suggestions.
I would welcome some free advice!!
That is crazy that you have the same b-day! Happy Early Birthday!
my husband and i have birthdates three days apart (and several years) and I always thought that was unusual....until now...yours are the exact same date and year. wow.
Happy Birthday in advance for to Mr & Mrs Vortex! :)
You are the 1st couple I know who were born on the same day. Maybe you actually met 27 years ago in the delivery ward... That would make an interesting romantic movie. :D
Please.... 27 is YOUNG. Just wait till you are over the hill like ol' nitrox.
Nice bike - having a bike you like can really help the miles go by.
Good work on the brick. Important to get started on those to get your body used to running in fatiqued state.
Kids... I only really learnt to love them after I had my own. :)
Oops forgot to add that I have not named my bike either, so I really can't help you there.
Couldn't reply to your comments as there is no email link, but my 1st O.D. is in end July - a local Tri in Singapore.
