One of "those" days

Did not have a good day yesterday. I've been away from home for a few days. Its amazing how one gets accustomed to being with another. I'm learning very quickly that not having my wife in the same bed effects my sleep...significantly. Before going to bed, I went to the gym. I did a 6 minute warm up on the treadmill. Then I started running. As soon as the pace picked up, my heart rate went from 135 to 185. I felt miserable. I could only keep up a "decent" pace for about a mile then I had to stop my HR was at 190 and I only did 1 Mile in 14:45!!! I took a breather and got some water. Then I walked over to the stationary bikes and tried that out, maybe my legs don't like soooo much stress right now. Wrong again. I set the level to 10 and started peddling. After 5 miles at 180 BPM with a cadence of only 70-75 cpm I was done. I felt so bad. I went into the gym thinking I was going to be in there for over an hour. But there is one thing I learned from training for triathlon. As much as I know my body and how far I can push it. You just have to listen to it when its telling you to stop. So I cooled down on the bike for about 4 minutes and left.

I hope this doesn't happen on a race day.

ys are just tough! Good job on listening to your body -- I'm not always so good at that.
